Celebrating 1 Year of R.E.A.D.I.

2020 will certainly be a noteworthy chapter in the history books of the future. And, although it’s hard to admit, 2021 is shaping up to be one as well. Loss… Suffering… Divisiveness… Turmoil… Loneliness… Isolation… Sickness… The narrative of these times has been ripe with fear and dismay.

But God is good… All the time. And when the world shut down in early 2020, new opportunities were illuminated in ways we couldn’t have imagined. It was at that time when the matriarch of our family, Irma, was facing the prospect of spending her first Mother’s Day without any of her children or grandchildren around. Thanks to the technology of the times, her daughters — Edith, Debra, and Rosalind — were able to arrange a Zoom call and coordinate delivery of a yummy lunch.

Zoom paved the way for our family to stay connected during the 2020 lockdowns

While it was unfortunate that Mother’s Day in 2020 was spent apart, it opened up a whole new world of opportunity when everyone was forced to learn how to navigate Zoom in order to stay connected.

It was a hit! And, despite the inevitable and hilarious technological hiccups that ensued, the family decided to keep up the weekly calls to stay connected and have something to look forward to since everything had been taken away.

Enter Amber — daughter to Rosalind, niece to Edith and Debra, granddaughter to Irma, recovering nomad, and aspiring entrepreneur. Her pursuit of Shreveport, LA real estate investment opportunities eventually led her to propose to the family that they pool together their resources and build something together. Everyone agreed!

It was such a simple, but powerful moment the day the R.E.A.D.I. acronym was coined.

Since then, R.E.A.D.I. Partners has shaped into a concept no one could have fathomed at that time. From filing entity paperwork to establishing our business infrastructure and systems to receiving our first rent check, it’s been quite a ride! But through it all, we continue to laugh a ton and love fiercely.

Instead of succumbing to fear and helplessness during a period of uncertainty, we were proactive and able to take advantage of the times.

The weekly R.E.A.D.I. Partners meeting agenda now begins with scripture readings. This was the message just shy of 1 year from the conception of our partnership.

It is our hope that by sharing the journey of the 1st year of our business that was born from tumultuous circumstances, we can add an uplifting tale to the narrative of these times. One of faith, love, purpose, and beauty. And, most importantly, one that is destined to be continued…
